Start With Your Conditions, Not the Catalog
The healthiest gardens begin with observation. Before buying a single plant, notice how light moves across the space and what your soil is really like underfoot.
When plants match their environment, they need less water, less feeding, and far less fussing to look their best.
Read the Light
Track which areas get full sun, partial shade, or deep shade through the day. Most plant tags list these needs directly, so matching them is the easiest win in the whole garden.
Know Your Soil
Squeeze a handful of moist soil: sandy soil crumbles, clay holds its shape, and loam does a bit of both. Choose plants suited to what you have, or enrich beds with compost before planting.
